Marion grew up in country Victoria, before moving to Geelong at 14 years of age. At 15, she moved to Melbourne, and lived in various places throughout Melbourne until moving to Phillip Island with her family (husband and four children) in 1990, and then to Townsville five years later.

While living in Townsville, Marion wrote two biographies, Beyond the Lies with Aannee Brown, and Mundingburra – the Inside Story with Frank Tanti.

Finally she documented her own story in Tell No Secrets, published in 2005.

Marion lived in Townsville for ten years, before setting off travelling with her husband in November 2005, promoting Tell No Secrets.

Then, as they say, life happened. Their youngest son passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2007, Marion had open heart surgery in 2011, then from 2014-2017 Marion worked for the Anglican church in Ayr, North Queensland, as the Family and Children’s worker. Returning home (now Frankston, Victoria) they were thrust into the joys of grandparenthood and retirement.

Now, as they’re emerging from the COVID pandemic it’s time for a new website and a new start in promoting Tell No Secrets.

Reflecting on the healing journey, Marion’s pet hate is simple answers, including the common advice that has been given to countless abuse victims, “Just put it behind you and get on with your life.” Her focus is on journeying, and the recognition that everyone journeys in their own way. Tell No Secrets is not a formula book about how to recover, but Marion hopes that readers will be moved forward in their recovery by reading it.

Marion’s business name is JOURNEY TO BE ME. She wanted a name that would encompass what she’s passionate about – encouraging people to grow towards being authentically themselves.

What she’s tried to communicate in Tell No Secrets is that we all journey in our own way, and to encourage people to keep going, keep growing, in whatever way sits well with them, that is authentic for them. JOURNEY TO BE ME encapsulates this perfectly.
